Wisp — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 June 2026

Plain English summary
Wisp is a daily kids' podcast app. The scripts and narration are produced by AI (we explain that more fully in our FAQ); the editorial brief, topic catalogue, safety rules, and content review are done by a human. We don't ask for your child's name. We don't track them. We don't run behavioural ads aimed at children. Anything the app asks you to set up — your favourite topic picks, any preferences — is stored only on your phone and never sent to us.

1. Who we are

Wisp is built and operated by Ben, based in the United Kingdom. Contact: hello@wispdaily.com.

2. What we collect — and what we don't

On your phone, never sent to us:

What we never collect:

3. What we serve

Every day, Wisp generates a fresh shared pool of podcast episodes — the same files for every listener. When you tap "Today's Wisp", your phone downloads MP3 files from our content delivery network (Cloudflare R2). No identifying information is sent in those requests beyond standard internet routing (IP address, like every web request).

If you say "Hey Siri, play my daily Wisp", Apple's Siri handles the voice request on your device; we never receive your voice recording.

4. Voice input (when available)

If a future version of Wisp adds voice input, recognition will happen on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework. Audio is not sent to our servers. You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Children's privacy (COPPA / UK GDPR — Children's Code)

Wisp is designed for children aged 5–11 listening with a parent. We have built it specifically to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the UK ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code:

About the website only (parents read, children don't)

On wispdaily.com we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, country origin, and which pages referrers send people from. It is:

Under UK PECR + the ICO's published guidance, cookieless aggregate analytics of this kind do not require a consent banner. We disclose it here for transparency. If you'd rather not be counted, browser-level "Do Not Track" or content blockers will exclude you.

About age-appropriateness

Episodes are designed for a broad 5–11 audience. Scripts are pitched at the comprehension level of a curious 7–9 year old, which our research and editorial review suggests works well for the whole range: a 6-year-old listening with a parent absorbs the gist and asks great follow-up questions; an 11-year-old engages with the detail. Topics are tagged with suggested age ranges in our content catalogue and the daily selection respects them.

About advertising

Wisp does not show advertising today. If we introduce advertising or sponsorships in future, the rules will be: (a) audience-appropriate — nothing that wouldn't be suitable for kids on the school run, never adult products, gambling or dating; (b) never selected based on data about your child — we don't have that data and never will; (c) we choose the partners ourselves and announce them in episode in plain English — no third-party ad networks. Any change to this position will be announced in-app before it takes effect.

About episode plays

To understand which episodes are landing and which aren't, the app tells our server when an episode is started, when it passes the halfway point, and when it finishes. We send only the episode's identifier — no information about who is listening, what phone they're on, or where they are. We use this to make better content choices. It is never linked to any identity, never sold, and never shared.

If you report an episode

Every episode has a "Report this episode" option (tap the ⋯ menu in Now Playing). If you submit a report, we store the episode you reported, the reason you chose, any free-text notes you added, and — only if you provide it — the email address you want a reply at. We use this to remove or fix the episode and improve our content review. We do not use it for marketing, and we don't link it to anything else about you or your child.

6. Third-party services we use

To deliver Wisp we use the following vendors. None of them ever receive personal information about you or your child:

7. Data retention

Because we don't collect personal data, there is nothing to retain or delete. If you uninstall the app, the on-device preferences (theme picks, playback history) are deleted along with the app.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we don't hold any, there is nothing to disclose. If you have any concern, email hello@wispdaily.com and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and (if the changes are material) post a notice in the app before the change takes effect.
